OPUS Directory ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the OPUS Directory application and services.
Information We Collect
We may collect your personal information when you interact with us through our application, communicate with us via email or other channels, or use our services. This information may include:
- Personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, lodge or chapter affiliation, member number, and occupation details.
- Account credentials, such as usernames and passwords, used when you create an account with us.
- Two-factor authentication data, including phone numbers for SMS verification and authenticator app configuration.
- Information you provide when you communicate with us, such as when submitting support inquiries or giving feedback.
- Information automatically collected when you use our application, including device type, operating system, and other technical details.
How We Use Your Information
We may use the information we collect from you for various purposes, including:
- To provide and improve our directory services, including listing your occupational information for fellow members to discover.
- To verify your membership and authenticate your identity through two-factor verification.
- To communicate with you, including responding to your inquiries, providing account notifications, and sending verification codes.
- To enable networking among Prince Hall Affiliated York Rite Jurisdiction of Maryland members.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights and policies.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your personal information with third parties for various purposes, including:
- Directory visibility: Your occupational profile and contact information may be visible to other verified members within the OPUS Directory, as intended by the application's purpose.
- Service providers: We may engage third-party service providers to perform functions on our behalf, such as sending SMS verification codes (Twilio), email communications (Mailjet), or hosting our application. These service providers will have access to your personal information only to the extent necessary to perform their functions.
- Grand Lodge administration: Your information may be accessible to Grand Secretary and administrative officers for lodge management purposes.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests, such as subpoenas or court orders.
SMS Messaging and Phone Numbers
Phone numbers you provide for SMS-based two-factor authentication (2FA) are used solely to deliver one-time verification codes when you sign in to OPUS. OPUS does not share, sell, lease, or otherwise transfer phone numbers collected for SMS 2FA to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers such as Twilio receive the phone number only to deliver the message and may not use it for any other purpose. Message frequency depends on your sign-in activity (typically 0–5 messages per month). Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. You may also disable SMS 2FA at any time from Account Settings → Security in the OPUS app.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the security of your personal information, including encryption of passwords, two-factor authentication, and secure data storage. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.
Your Choices
You may choose not to provide certain personal information to us, but this may limit your ability to use certain features of the directory. You may also update, correct, or delete your personal information through your profile settings or by contacting us. You may opt out of SMS communications by replying STOP to any message.
Updates to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the revised policy within the application or by other means as appropriate.
